David J Phillips
David J Phillips graduated in 1974 with a 2.1 Honours degree in Business Studies. He joined the
international Burroughs Machines Corporation in 1975 where he remained for 10 years achieving outstanding
success in both Sales Management and General Management. Recognising that corporate life was too restrictive
for him and having identified a niche market he formed his own company, Universal Document Management, in
1985.
Universal now features in the UK's Print Industries Top 500 list. Subsequently he has been involved in the
formation of two other companies allied to the print industry and in 1999 was instrumental in the creation of
Eagle Technologies due to a close association with the plastic card industry.
Chris Rayner
Chris has an extensive track record of success in Sales and Marketing and is fuelled by an entrepreneurial
drive to build Eagle to be the largest and most respected company in its field worldwide.
Chris began his career in sales with Canon, swiftly moving on to a sales manager position in a start up
office products business. When the company was successfully sold, Chris joined a selection company and helped
to establish their sales recruitment business. Next he joined ICC PLC and introduced a bespoke research
department within keynote.
He then joined Eltron Card Printers (Zebra Technologies Inc.) in 1996, where he became head of business
development for the UK, Scandinavia and indirectly Eastern Europe, where he established a new distribution
structure and helped build the Eltron and Zebra card printer brand names.
Seeing the market growth and an opportunity for a focused trade sales only distributor in this market, he
and David Phillips partnered to establish Eagle Technologies Limited in November 1999. In a short time, Eagle
has emerged as a recognised global leader with offices in the UK, Europe and a joint card manufacturing venture
in the USA.
